Second post of 2010 and what happened Saturday night
Damn, I'm a slacker. Only took five months to post a news entry, and to play a show, for that matter. On Saturday night we played at Cecil's Water Park in Crosby which is actually a pretty cool place. There had been some talk of trouble brewing at this show, but there was also some talk that nothing violent was going to go down. We went on around midnight and played several songs until eventually a fight broke out which led to several other fights over the span of about 30 or 40 minutes. Eventually some police showed up and I think took some people away, but I don't know about that for sure. I don't know what the initial fight was about, but the whole night I could sense some tension in the pit. There were probably some people there who either aren't familiar with "mosh pits" or are accustomed to being excessively violent at shows, but there was some kind of clash and eventually it erupted into a brawl. Apparently, someone also got stabbed in the mouth with a knife. Which is not nearly as funny in reality as it sounds abstractly. The people running the show couldn't decide if they wanted us to keep playing or shut it down, eventually there was a drunken consensus that we keep playing. I packed up my gear and left. I half-heartedly apologize for us not finishing our set. We're supposed to be playing in Baytown in a few weeks but I think it's a semi-private event so I'm hesitant to divulge too much info (of which I have little anyway). If you have any questions, comments, concerns, statements, filibusters, rebuttals, proposals, inquiries, conjectures, objections, interjections, testimony, arguments, bullet points, flash cards, musings, ad-libs, asides, astrisks, spreadsheats, dinosaurs, or any Powerpoint slideshows, please contact thedraftedband@yahoo.com. That is all.

Happy New Year
We're hoping to put a new album out. Some people have pre-ordered it already... for three bucks. They all got demos, some of them got drinks. Anyone who has pre-ordered it can request a refund by emailing us at thedraftedband@yahoo.com. Woo hoo!!!!!!! And I have contact info on everyone so don't email me for a refund if you know you didn't order one, ain't gonna trick me.

Rylan's Homecoming Show
Thanks to everyone who came out and supported this show. HUGE thanks to Abe for helping out with the door and hunting down people who didn't know there was a cover and all that kind of stuff, and his band didn't even play. Similar with John Mac from the K-O. Thank you so much for providing the p.a. system dude, it worked out really well and I appreciate you hauling it to the show yourself. Thanks to Omeed for eq-ing it to the room, which was rad, it sounded really good. Thanks to Cassie for doing our Drafted merch and convincing me to bring the three-prong adapter just in case, which we ended up needing. Thanks to the Pelly Rogers for PLAYING!!!! Let it be known: RYLAN FELDER IS THE MAN. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukka, Super Saturnalia, Radical Ramadan, Kwazy Kwanza, and a non-sequentially good New Year: stay tuned for our upcoming album!!

Our Baytown show has been moved back one day
The show is still on. We will be playing with The Pelly Rogers. All other bands had to cancel. This was the only weekend we could feasably play with our official bass player, Rylan Felder, so the show is on no matter what. The cover charge will be the same, I may not charge $3 after 8pm, it may be $2 the whole time. We're going to play two sets of music, one short set of old songs, then a normal set of everything else. I might ask John and Dani of the K-O to play some songs with a drummer between our sets. I may also ask Shane from Last Ride In if they can play a set.
Keep checking our myspace for updates.

The cover is going to be $10 and it's supposed to start at 7pm (doors open at 6) and we go on last around 11 o clock. So, we'll see you on July 4th at the White Swan. Peace.

Five days until we begin our summer 2009 comeback special. We'll be tearing up the Houston warehouse district at Super Happy Funland on April 30th. It's the day after my 21st birthday so you better come ready to party. Get there early because we might be playing first, I do not know the lineup.

It's gonna be another fun summer
Hey folks, Adam here. Just thought I'd update the site because, well, it exists. But better than that: we've got four shows booked right now! Two of them are at Super Happy Funland, a Houston venue which has a brand new location that you should definitely check out. We've also got a show at the Pitt in May and a big Fourth of July show at White Swan. I'm in the process of putting together some press kits which will be sent to the big fish Houston clubs and media outlets. Coolness.

Request us on the radio tonight! I don't even know if they got our cd yet, but the people who run the local show [8-9pm on Tuesday nights] at 91.7 ktru Houston, should be getting it. And I want you to call in between 8 and 9 tonight and REQUEST STUFF FROM OUR FIRST CD ('dont get me wrong,' 'never be like you,' '1,000 dead') because that's the cd I sent. Even if they don't have it, keep calling 713-348-5878 (ktru). Check out their schedule and support public radio and local music!!

General update Yeah, we're pretty much still on hiatus. We've gotten some show offers but we've unfortunately had to decline. However, if you want to hear our music on the radio, you can always call in and request at KTRU on Thursday nights and now maybe Tuesday nights, more on that as it develops. Uhhhh, Obama?

Okay so, we've got a new president elect who might be sympathetic to "the cause." We need to pinpoint what exactly the cause is: end the war? legalize weed? repeal the Patiot Act? reverse the Bush tax cuts on the wealthy? There's so much to do, so little time to get it all done, but either way we've got to hold Obama's feet to a flame 24/7 or else he won't do any of those things. Need proof: Clinton. Need an explanation? Take it to the comment board.

HIATUS
For those who haven't gotten the word, we're about to go on a fall season hiatus. (I think I told the guys about it, or at least hinted at it.) But yeah, I used to come back to Texas a lot during the school year, but that's not happening this semester. Mostly because of gas, but also because I want to focus on school more. Even while I'm over there, I'm always obsessing about shows, and it kind of gets in the way.

There may be a few exceptions to this hiatus though. Obviously, if we get offered an opening slot for a national act coming through Houston on a weekend, yeah I might make the drive out there. If the Harbour actually re-opens like everyone's hoping, yeah you can probably put us down for their debut show (maybe). Other than that, I'm probably not even going to check our profile for messages or friend requests or any of that stuff.

You'll see by the lack of response to this blog that it really doesn't matter either way what we do. Might as well save my money.

HOWEVER, this week Omeed and I are probably going to get together at Lee College and record a whole bunch of new stuff, just my own parts first. Then later in the semester everyone else can come in whenever possible and add their parts. Before you know it, we'll be coming out with new songs even though we haven't seen each other all semester. Pretty cool, right?

Like I said, it doesn't really matter either way, but we're still a band no matter how few people give a shit.

Later,
-adam

Help us advance in the tournament!! We need everyone who's ever gone to our shows ALL to go to this one on August 15th. Well, maybe we don't really need it but we'd like to at least make sure that the final four bands in this "punk" tournament are actually PUNK bands. So come out and support us and Riot Up Front, it's only six dollars.

Oh, and we recorded a new song the other day...

Two shows left this summer and what a ride it has been. We started it off with an awesome White Swan show, then with another one a month later. Then we had Saturdays in a row in July. We played a power pop show, a metal show, and an all-out punk show, seven days apart from each other. Next week we have a double-header. On August 1st, Omeed's birthday, we're doing the first show of the first annual punk tournament at the Pitt (COME OUT AND VOTE FOR US, THAT'S THE ONLY WAY WE'LL ADVANCE!!), and the next day we're playing in Pearland with Vatos Locos! Thanks to everyone who came out to Fitzgerald's last week, we love you like our children (as Omeed said).

Last night cancelled, go to White Swan this weekend Yeah I know no one was going to be there, but the show at the Pitt last night got rained out. We might be playing sometime in July, I'll keep you updated so you can skip that one too. This Saturday (yes THIS Saturday, because Sunday is the FIRST day of the week thank you) we're playing at the White Swan with a bunch of great, dirty punk bands like Riot Up Front and an awesome out-of-state ska band called Shut Up Travis. It's only THREE DOLLARS!!

Confirmations. We are playing with two Houston greats this summer: Vatos Locos and The Hates. We're playing at 8 o clock at Fitz on July 19th and that's gonna be The Hates' 30 Aniversary Show. Yeah, I don't have to tell you to be there. We're playing with VL in Pearland at Paradise Tea, which has apparently changed to "The Drink Station" but it still says Paradise Tea on the building. I think we're supposed to be playing third, We'll see if that actually happens. Ok, see you this Saturday at The Pitt!! ($6 if you get there on time, $7 if you're late)

I gots some Details. Okay folkmunches, here's the sticky. Next Saturday, The Pitt w/ The K-O. After that, White Swan w/ punk bands. After that, Last Ride In's cd release at La Porte (also with the K-O). We're also probably going to be opening for THE HATES again at their 30th aniversary show at Fitzgerald's. Plus a few more shows. GOT IT?? Oh yeah, we've been playing with a new substitute: Stephen H from La Porte, kin to Riot Up Front folk. Aight.

SHOW NEWS: We're playing at the White Swan tomorrow. Last Ride In's OFFICIAL cd release show is going to be in La Porte, at The Landing (formerly called the Forum) which is now run by FGR Productions. We might not be playing in New Orleans after all on July 19th but I'll try and get it in the works again. On August 1st The Pitt might be holding their first punk/indie competition and I've already told him we could play, so let's hope that show happens. Aight, bye.

SHOW DETAILS Okay, we're not playing at the Pitt on June 27th, we're playing there on the 21st instead, and we're probably not going to be playing at Lee College on June 7th (maybe a graduation party in Cypress that night). For information on the July 4th CD release with Last Ride In, keep checking their profile for details and I'll put them up as soon as we figure something out. We're probably going to rent some place out (oh, the Usual Suspects are playing that show too). Stay tuned for more stuff, the four of you who look at this site (two of you being members of the fucking band). Ready, break.

Holy moly the summer of the Drafted! Actually I hoped to have WAY more shows than this by now but we've got a few in the works now. Some of them are still unconfirmed, like July 4th with LRI. [TAKE OUR SUGGESTION SURVEY RI-CHEER] We still don't know where the heck that's gonna happen because there's no place to really play in Baytown anymore. We might be playing in New Orleans this summer too (hopefully Austin also). So yeah, you've got plenty o chances to see us this summer, get to it.

Upcoming show and new songs! We practiced some new material yesterday and we just might have one new song ready for our show at The Pitt this Saturday. Definately a show you do not want to miss. I must mention that Pasadena is NOT that far away from Baytown and it's not that hard to find either. The address is over there in the "upcoming shows" bar, paste it into mapquest and find the directions, it's that easy. And you saved ten bucks by skipping out on our show at Engine Room last week so you've got enough for the Pitt show this Saturday. See you there!

Have a fruitful and safe holiday season and we'll see you next year!

8:00 Snot Nosed Terrors (?)
9:00 Gutter Rats (?)
10:00 Riot Up Front
11:00 The Hates

Snot Nose and Gutter Rats sets may be switched, I'm not sure, but they'll be at 8/9pm.
