2003-present 2002-2003
The Drafted's whole story begins in Highlands, Texas with a band called Sourdough Dungeon Kids. They were a trio comprised of Adam [drums], Ben [bass], and Quaid [guitar]. Adam and Ben actually played on the same t-ball team as kids. Quaid moved to Highlands very briefly in sixth grade before returning to Huffman, Texas (he was a folkloric figure at school, not just because he was pushing 6'3" but because he was an incredible skateboarder). A few years later he moved to Highlands again, this time long enough for him to befriend a few people; including Adam and Ben. They got together for the first time in early summer, 2002. They rehearsed and recorded a few songs that Adam wrote. They began high school that fall, and the band stopped practicing. In October Quaid unexpectedly moved back to Huffman (coincidentally after an incident involving him tossing a bottle of water out of a school bus window, shattering the short bus' windshield). Adam and Ben continued writing and recording songs, at first believing Quaid was still in the band but eventually searching for a new member. They jammed and recorded with a drummer named Donnie (who actually moved to Highlands in 8th grade around the same time Quaid did), but he didn't stick around. It was around this time that they changed the name to The Drafted. Before that first year of high school ended, they met and recruited Omeed.
